I\u2019m sitting in the car, embracing my wife\u2014back then still my girlfriend\u2014and I notice something different. Her scent, so familiar to me, has changed. I don\u2019t know why, but I ask, \u201cIs something different?\u201d\u2026<\/span><\/p>

I don\u2019t care about scents. Perfumes? I just wear whatever my wife buys for me. But then, one December day, my life changes.<\/span><\/p>

My wife\u2019s friend, Eli\u0161ka \u0160imek Polzerov\u00e1, an aromatherapist, visits us. She brings her suitcase, her perfumer\u2019s \u201corgan\u201d\u2014hundreds of tiny bottles filled with natural essences. Various cedars, jasmines, red champaca, and Gallic rose.<\/span><\/p>

I take them into another room. I start opening them, and\u2026 It\u2019s love at first sniff.<\/span><\/p>

How could I have ignored this incredible, diverse world of scents for almost my entire life? And the memories and emotions each sniff evokes?!<\/span><\/p>

This isn\u2019t just a fleeting fascination. This is the awakening of a new passion. A love that\u2019s just beginning.<\/span><\/p>

Luckily, my wife notices and gifts me my first perfume workshop. Several hours of blending, discovering, and confirming what I already know deep down\u2014I\u2019m not turning away from this path.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

New Year\u2019s transition, a journey to Thailand.<\/span><\/p>

I\u2019m riding through Bangkok\u2019s concrete jungle in a battered yellow Thai taxi. Hanging from the rearview mirror, an Indian jasmine pendant fills the air.<\/span><\/p>

Amidst the flood of neon lights and food stalls, I spot a skyscraper with a bright red sign\u2014\u201cBA\u0164A.\u201d I\u2019m shocked to see it here of all places.<\/span><\/p>

And suddenly, combinations of fragrance names start forming in my head:<\/span><\/p>

Rose + Jasmine = Rosemine? No.<\/b><\/p>

Frangipani + Peony = Frangiris? Sounds weird.<\/b><\/p>

Oakmoss + Bergamot = BERGAMOSS! That\u2019s it!<\/b><\/p>

I had no idea this wordplay would change my life forever.<\/span><\/p>

And what could this name represent? My own perfume brand, of course!<\/span><\/p>

The next morning, I head straight to <\/span>Perfumer\u2019s World<\/span><\/i>\u2014Asia\u2019s largest supplier of fragrance materials\u2014to buy my first perfumery ingredients.<\/span><\/p>

I see strange names like <\/span>Calone, Iso E Super,<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Galaxolid<\/span><\/i><\/h6>

Can I even take these on a plane? No idea. But I\u2019ll risk it.<\/span><\/p>

Covid.<\/b><\/p>

The most important year in my life as a budding perfumer.<\/span><\/p>

Until then, I was touring with concerts\u2014but every single one gets canceled, and I have no idea what\u2019s next.<\/span><\/p>

Suddenly, I have so much time that I dive headfirst into my fragrant hobby\u2014sometimes mixing perfumes for <\/span>seven hours a day<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

I train my nose, compare 20 types of citrus oils, and learn that scents aren\u2019t just \u201cmasculine\u201d or \u201cfeminine\u201d\u2014they belong to families like chypre, foug\u00e8re, gourmand, or aldehydic.<\/span><\/p>

I buy <\/span>every single book<\/b> on perfumery I can find (mostly in English). I devour interviews with master perfumers.<\/span><\/p>

And most importantly\u2014I create. Create. Create.<\/span><\/p>

I\u2019m trying, but nothing major happens.<\/span><\/p>

I continue studying under perfumers like Sarah McCartney (UK), Harry Sherwood (UK), Emmanuelle Mogelin (FR\/UK), and Christophe Laudamiel (FR\/USA).<\/span><\/p>

I blend perfumes only for friends and family\u2014whoever reaches out to me. And not many do.<\/span><\/p>

Launching my own brand feels <\/span>out of reach<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

I can\u2019t even find a manufacturer who can produce a fragrance precisely to my formula.<\/span><\/p>

I start wondering\u2014was I too ambitious? Should I just go back to focusing on music, which has been my livelihood all this time?<\/span><\/p>

I can\u2019t just let this dream slip away.<\/span><\/p>

My <\/span>first big order!<\/b><\/p>

After posting a video of myself blending a perfume and explaining the process, someone finally reaches out\u2014an existing perfume brand wants me to create fragrances for them!<\/span><\/p>

A dream come true!<\/span><\/p>

For now, Bergamoss takes a backseat. I can\u2019t let this opportunity slip away.<\/span><\/p>

I spend months conducting hundreds of tests, shipping dozens of samples, studying <\/span>regulations, allergens, and all the tedious yet crucial aspects<\/b> of perfume-making.<\/span><\/p>

My bedroom transforms into a <\/span>bigger<\/b> fragrance lab. My wife curses me for it.<\/span><\/p>

And honestly, with the <\/span>intense<\/b> raw materials I work with, I don\u2019t blame her\u2026<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

If I thought previous years were just a warm-up, <\/span>2024 is a rollercoaster!<\/b><\/p>

I\u2019ve created <\/span>several new perfumes<\/b>, and thanks to word-of-mouth and social media, my fragrances have started spreading across Europe\u2014especially among perfume collectors.<\/span><\/p>

I even became a <\/span>perfumer<\/b> for <\/span>Mandario<\/span><\/i>\u2014one of the leading manufacturers of scented products.<\/span><\/p>

Every day, I now create scents for candles, perfumes for other brands, fragrances for laundry and cars\u2026<\/span><\/p>

At one point, I told myself I wanted <\/span>music to become my hobby again\u2014and perfumery to be my career.<\/b><\/p>

This year, that dream became reality.<\/span><\/p>

Through Mandario, I finally found a way to <\/span>officially produce my perfumes<\/b>\u2014now in the <\/span>hundreds of bottles<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

With my brilliant graphic designer (<\/span>Hey, Yvans!<\/span><\/i>), we developed <\/span>a proper logo, packaging, and bottle design<\/b>\u2014everything needed for the first official Bergamoss perfume.<\/span><\/p>

I <\/span>can\u2019t wait<\/b> for you to experience it!<\/span><\/p>

And at the same time, I\u2019m incredibly nervous.<\/span><\/p>
